Music alongside the fight against the Asbestos Mesothelioma disease

In Italy despite the law 257 of 1992, which has prohibited the extraction, import, processing or use of the asbestos, there are still 40.000.000 tons of materials containing it, and about 1.050.000 sites and microsites of national interest are still waiting to be reclaimed.

The Sicilian rapper Picciotto has been committing himself for years to the social problem of asbestos and its “killer-fibre”. Every year asbestos affects hundreds of people from Mesothelioma, a malignant tumour considered unusual but frequent in some Italian geographical areas such as Monferrato, Alessandria and Biancavilla.

Following the success of the single “Sotto Casa Mia” published in 2016, the artist has officially bound to the cause by supporting the fundraising campaign organised by Doctor Gregorio Bonsignore. The campaign aims to develop a PhD research project between the Department of Science and Technology Innovation (DISIT) of the Università del Piemonte Orientale and the Azienda Ospedaliera of Alessandria.

The fundraising, available on Gofoundme, is organised by Fondazione SolidAL Onlus which, in partnership with Azienda Ospedaliera of Alessandria, promotes research support activities highlighting its motto “Solidal per la Ricerca”.

Therefore, for this occasion, the artist has published the remix version of the 2016 song, under the production of DJ Crocetta and the partecipation of singer (and Doctor) Stefania Crivellari who, with the team of doctors, including Doctor Bonsignore– mentioned above- Doctor Elia Ranzato, Doctors Federica Grosso and Simona Martinotti, has formed the research group of the project. To highlight, Doctor Stefania Crivellari was – with the song “Piombo Fuso Nelle Vene”-National semifinalist in the Sanremo Area 2018, one of the most popular singing competition in Italy.

The song “Ancora Sotto Casa Mia”, accompanied by a video directed by Fabio Di Dio Buono, is available in every digital store and will evolve every earning to fundraising.
